AlisonReed.Walk“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,  by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20)

Life is housed in Truth, in the person of Jesus Christ; Death is wrapped in deceit and in the person of Satan. But it is not just truth that gives life – it is heeding the truth. You have probably heard the Scripture – “and you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” – but do we know the verse that comes before that? Jesus is speaking to the Jews who had believed in Him saying:

“If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” (John 8:31-32)

Various people groups in the Bible had encounters with truth. Although they knew truth, they did not listen to truth in order to walk in truth and therefore remained in bondage to sin. The hearts of these people were closed to the truth.

Our Father is asking us to listen for the Shepherd’s voice and to ask for discernment as we sift through the lies of the devil and to choose to walk in Truth.

Today make a choice to open the Word and permit God to show Himself to you. Watch how He will grow and change you. Then you will be more fully equipped to offer true life to others.

Coaching Points:

Look at the list from Deuteronomy 30:19-20 and ask yourself –

  • How am I currently loving God?

  • Am I obeying His voice?

  • Am I holding fast to Him?

  • Is there anything I want to change today?
